Winners are Grinners - Recent YA Award Winners
Of course the Inkys are THE prize for Young Adult Fiction in Australia. But let’s have a look at what has been winning all the prizes this year. Could it be an indication of which book will win the treasured Gold Inky?
The Victorian Premier’s Literary Award 2018 went to…

Living on Hope Street by Demet Divaroren
And the People’s Choice went to

Ida by Alison Evans, which is a 2018 Gold Inky longlisted book too.
The NSW Premier’s Literary Awards Ethel Turner Prize for Young People’s Literature went to

The Ones That Disappeared by the 2017 Gold Inky Shortlisted author Zana Fraillon
The ABIA (Australian Book Industry Award) for Book of the Year for Older Children went to
Begin, End, Begin: A #LoveOzYa Anthology which is another 2018 Gold Inky Longlist book.
The Adelaide Festival Awards for Literature Young Adult Fiction award went to

My Sister Rosa by Justine Larbalestier – and you guessed it , we picked it too – it was a 2017 Inky shortlisted book.
Not all 2018 awards have been announced. The 2017 Queensland Literary Awards Griffith University Young Adult Book Award went to

Words In Deep Blue by Cath Crowley which last year won the Gold Inky.
Another book on the 2018 Gold Inky longlist is the 2017 Aurealis Award winner for Best Young Adult Novel,

In The Dark Spaces by Cally Black.
Looks like the Inky judges sure know how to pick a winner.
